In Loving Memory of Thomas J. Falzone
Thomas J. FalzoneDunmore, PA January 21, 1940 ~ May 29, 2017 Date of Service: June 2, 2017
Thomas J. Falzone, 77, of Dunmore, died Monday morning after a courageous battle with cancer in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Dunmore, son of the late Salvatore and Grace Ross Falzone, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1958 and went on to attend the University of Scranton where he attained his bachelor’s degree in physics. Prior to retirement, he was employed as an electrical engineer for General Electric in the Installation and Service Engineering Department for over 25 years. It was here where he helped to install some of the largest electronic drive systems that General Electric was contracted to start up, including but not limited to steel mills, paper mills, plastic mills, cement mills, and some of the biggest earth moving machines in the country for the open pit coal mining industry. Tom also was instrumental with the contract General Electric had with NASA in moving the Saturn 5 Rocket to its launch pad on Complex 35 at Cape Canaveral called the Crawler. This machine was eight lanes wide and powered by General Electric motors and controls. He was well liked by his counterparts and highly regarded by the customers that he served. He left General Electric in 1998 to start his own engineering company, still doing the work he loved. He retired in 2010 after a long and varied career. Tom enjoyed target shooting and working on automobiles for his pastimes. He had been a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore and its Holy Name Society.
A special thank you is extended to Dr. Salvatore Lawrence for all the care given to Tom over the many years.
He was a beloved brother and uncle who will be sincerely missed. Surviving is his sister, Pauline Falzone Contessa of Dunmore, as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Sally Hanis, Carmel Raymond, and Marie Falzone; and his brothers Charles Raymond, Joseph Falzone, and Frank Falzone.
