She was born March 11, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Gilbert Spiegel and Ida Kamrash Spiegel. Her beloved brother, Aaron Harry Spiegel, predeceased her. Following high school, she worked as a lab technician at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, where she met Dr. Bernard D. Rosenfeld. They married on Nov. 3, 1957, and moved to Scranton, Pennsylvania, where Bernie opened a medical practice. Fran ran his office and did his bookkeeping for the first several years. When their children got a little older, Fran returned to working in his office until he retired.
Fran loved traveling; she and Bernie had many adventures together, and made friends wherever they went. She was active in many charitable organizations, often volunteering as an officer of the groups she was involved with. Fran's warmth, humor, and wisdom shone through in whatever she did. She loved being with people, especially her family. She always loved a party and knew how to throw the best ones! Fran also enjoyed the arts, playing bridge, knitting and crocheting, and rooting for her hometown teams. Some of her last days were spent watching the Golden State Warriors win the NBA championship.
Fran and Bernie enjoyed an active retirement in Scottsdale, Arizona, and eventually moved to Walnut Creek, California, to be near family.
Fran is survived by their three children, Beth (Lee Fife), of Hygiene, Colorado; Toby (Michael Conley), of Moraga, California; and Neil (Nina Blum Rosenfeld), of Denver, Colorado; as well as four grandchildren, Dana, Benjamin and Ethan Conley, and Nasiya Rosenfeld. Bernie predeceased her.
